YEAST BISCUITS 
2 1/2 c. flour
1 pkg. yeast
1/2 tsp. salt
4 tbsp. shortening (I use Crisco)
1 c. buttermilk
1 tbsp. sugar
1/2 tsp. baking soda

Dissolve yeast in buttermilk at room temperature. Mix dry ingredients, then add buttermilk and yeast. Mix well. Let set for 10 minutes, then roll out thin and cut with small cutter. Brush each piece with melted butter, then place 2 pieces together. Brush top piece with butter. Let rise about 1 hour, then bake at 450 degrees.
