3/4 c. shortening
1 c. white sugar
1/2 c. brown sugar
1 tsp. baking soda
1 c. sour milk or buttermilk
2 1/2 c. flour
1 tbsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. salt
2 tsp. cinnamon
2 c. apples, sliced
1/2 c. nuts, chopped

TOPPING:

1/2 c. sugar
1/2 c. nuts, chopped
1/2 tsp. cinnamon

Cream together shortening, white sugar, and brown sugar. Stir in 1 teaspoon baking soda in sour milk or buttermilk. Add flour, baking powder, salt, and cinnamon. Fold in sliced apples and chopped nuts. Pour into large baking pan. Top with 1/2 cup sugar, 1/2 cup chopped nuts and 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon. Bake at 350 degrees for 45 minutes.
