HAMBURGER AND MACARONI BAKE 
1 onion
14 1/2 oz. can tomatoes
1 c. grated Cheddar cheese
1 1/2 c. elbow macaroni
1 lb. ground beef
1/2 tsp. dried thyme
1/2 tsp. dried oregano
Salt
2 tbsp. flour
1 1/2 c. milk

Heat oven to 400 degrees. Butter a 1 1/2 quart baking dish. Chop onion. Drain tomatoes and chop. Cook macaroni in large pot of boiling salted water until done. Drain. Cook ground beef in large frying pan over medium heat until no longer pink. Add onions and cook until soft, about 5 minutes. Add tomatoes, thyme, oregano and salt to taste. Cook, stirring until almost dry, about 5 minutes. Put flour in a saucepan and add milk slowly, stirring. Cook over medium heat, stirring until it comes to a boil. Continue boiling 1 minute. Remove from heat and stir in 3/4 cup of cheese. Combine macaroni, meat mixture and cheese sauce in prepared baking dish. Top with remaining 1/4 cup cheese. Bake until golden brown, about 20 minutes.
