MYSTERY DESSERT 
1 c. flour
1 c. sugar
1 tsp. baking soda
Dash of salt
1 egg, slightly beaten
1 (#2) can fruit cocktail
3/4 c. brown sugar
1/2 c. chopped nuts
Cool Whip
Maraschino cherries

Sift together flour, white sugar and soda. Combine flour mixture with egg, fruit cocktail, including syrup. Mix thoroughly. Spoon batter into greased 8 1/2 x 8 1/2 inch pan. Combine brown sugar and nuts. Sprinkle over batter. Bake in preheated 350 degree oven for 45 minutes or until done. Test with toothpick. Garnish with Cool Whip and cherries. Dessert may be served warm or cold.
