6 lbs. hamburger 2 lg. onions 1 to 4 cloves garlic 2 lg. cans tomatoes 6 tbsp. chili powder 2 tbsp. oregano 2 tsp. thyme 2 tsp. sugar Bayleaf (opt.) 4 c. uncooked pinto beans Salt and pepper to taste Brown meat, break into small pieces. Pour off excess grease, add onion and garlic. Cook until onion is done. Add remaining ingredients except pinto beans, add 6 to 8 cups water. Simmer, covered, while beans are cooking. Cook beans in separate pot. After beans have cooked, add to meat mixture and cook from 1 to 3 hours. Thicken with flour if necessary. Great when serve with rice! |
