TURTLE COOKIES 
1 1/2 c. sifted flour
1/4 tsp. baking soda
1/4 tsp. salt
1/2 c. butter
1/2 c. brown sugar
1 egg
1 egg yolk
1/4 tsp. vanilla
1/4 tsp. maple flavoring
Pecan halves

Cream butter and sugar; add egg and flavorings. Add dry ingredients gradually. Split pecan halves into 3 parts. Arrange split pecans on greased cookie sheet (1 part for the head and 2 parts for the 2 front legs). Dip ball (size of 2 teaspoons approximately) of dough in egg white and press onto nuts. Bake for 10-13 minutes at 350 degrees. Cool and frost.

FROSTING:

2 (1 oz.) sq. unsweetened chocolate
1/4 c. milk
1 tbsp. butter
1 c. sifted powdered sugar

Melt chocolate over low heat. Blend in milk and butter until smooth. Add powdered sugar. Beat until smooth and glossy.
