SOFT OATMEAL RAISIN COOKIES 
1 c. raisins
1 c. sugar
1 c. shortening
2 eggs
2 c. quick oatmeal
1 tsp. baking soda
1/2 c. nuts, optional
2 c. flour

Cook raisins in one cup water; cool. Cream sugar and shortening. Add eggs, beat well. Add raisin mixture and other ingredients. Drop by spoonsful on cookie sheet. Bake about 10 minutes in 350 degree oven. Do not overbake.
