CHICKEN/TURKEY DRESSING | |
1/2 - 1 c. butter 2 c. chopped celery 2 tsp. poultry seasoning 2 tsp. sage 2 tsp. thyme (optional) 2 large cans mushrooms 3 1/2 - 4 c. chicken broth chicken or turkey, cubed (optional) 2 c. chopped onions 1/2 c. parsley 2 tsp. salt 1/2 tsp. pepper 1/2 tsp. marjoram (optional) 2 loaves of white bread, small pieces 4 eggs Melt butter and sauté onions and celery. After onions an celery are cooked add the spices and mushrooms. Let simmer for a few minutes. Pour the spice mixture over the bread and mix. (Will need a large bowl.) Beat eggs and mix with the broth, then pour over the bread and spice mixture. If you have chicken or turkey that is cooked, add some of this, it adds good flavor. Mix this well and put in crockpot. Cook on high for 1 1/2 hours. Stir well and then cook on low for 2 hours. |
