RICH REAL DEVILS FOOD CAKE 
2 1/4 c. flour
1/2 c. butter
2 1/2 c. brown sugar
3 oz. unsweetened chocolate
1 c. hot water
1/2 c. buttermilk
2 tsp. baking soda
1/2 tsp. salt
3 eggs
2 tsp. vanilla

Preheat oven to 375 degrees. Grease bottom and sides of three 8 inch cake pans and dust with flour. Sift flour, measure it and sift again with soda and salt. Cream butter in bowl until soft and creamy, add sugar a little at a time until fluffy and light. Add eggs. Put chocolate in pan and melt. Add to mixture. Add flour and milk. Stir well; add vanilla and hot water. Stir well. Divide into pans. Batter will be thin. Bake 25-30 minutes.
