COLD WATER BISCUITS | |
SPONGE: 1 or 2 c. lukewarm water 2 tbsp. sugar 1 tbsp. dry yeast 1 1/2 c. flour DOUGH: 2 c. sponge 2 c. cold water 1/2 c. sugar 1/2 c. melted butter Flour, enough to make soft dough Make sponge (late afternoon). Let rise 1 to 3 hours. Then make dough, knead well. Let rise at bedtime, make balls about size a large acorn and place in greased pans. (Leave plenty of room for rising.) Let rise at room temperature overnight. Bake in morning at about 350 degrees. This is an old recipe. Time and temperature are variable. |
