MRS. CLEO GRACE'S VEGETABLE SOUP
MIXTURE
 
4 med. potatoes, diced
1 qt. lima beans and field peas, mixed
1/4 lb. salt pork

Cook together. Add:

1 qt. red or bermuda onions, chopped

Continue cooking, add:

1 qt. corn, cut off cob (can use No. 2 1/2 can whole grain or frozen)
2 to 3 pods hot pepper (personal preference)
2 to 3 carrots, sliced
1 pt. okra, sliced

Cook 20 minutes. Will become thick enough to be stirred to prevent scorching. Divide into 2 or 3 (5 quart) stewers and add:

3 1/2 to 4 qts. tomatoes, quartered, divided among pots

Season with 1 tablespoons sugar, salt and pepper to taste. If freezing, omit salt and season before serving. Cook until thickened up or "soupy."
