ANNE'S DEEP-FRIED SUGARY DONUTS | |
2 cups all-purpose flour 1 1/4 cups granulated sugar, divided 1 tbsp. softened butter 3/4 cup milk oil, for deep-fat frying 2 tbsp. confectioners' sugar, for sprinkling Mix flour, 1 cup sugar, butter and milk together until crumby and caked together. Add more milk or flour depending on desired texture. Form flattened balls of dough then poke holes with finger or cutting tool in middle of dough to get the donut shape. Layer remaining 1/4 cup of sugar over donut shaped uncooked dough. Bake in preheated 375°F oven for 7 to 10 minutes. Heat oil in deep fat fryer to 400°F. After donuts are done in the oven sprinkle more sugar over donuts to desired amount. Place donuts in basket the place in the fryer. It should sizzle, if it doesn't it's not fully heated. Keep an eye on donuts (cook fast). Flip in fryer till skin is golden brown. Sprinkle confectioners' sugar over donuts before serving. EAT WHILE HOT OR WARM. GREAT WITH ICE CREAM!!!
