DARK CHERRY CHOCOLATE CAKE 
1/2 c. butter
1 c. sugar
1 egg
1 c. sour milk
1 tsp. baking soda
1/8 tsp. salt
1-1/2 c. sifted flour
1 (4 oz.) bottle of Maraschino cherries, chopped
1/2 c. walnuts, chopped
1 oz square of chocolate, melted

Cream butter and sugar, add egg and beat well. Add sour milk alternating with flour sifted with soda and salt. Stir in melted chocolate, cherries (juice included), and nuts. Turn into greased 8-inch square cake pan and bake in a moderate oven 350°F for 55 minutes. Frost with a chocolate frosting.

Tip: To sour milk, use 1 teaspoon of vinegar to 1/2 cup milk.
