APPLE WALNUT BARS 
1/2 c. butter
1/3 c. sugar
1/3 c. brown sugar, packed
1/4 c. applesauce
1 c. sifted all-purpose flour
1 tsp. baking powder
1/4 tsp. cinnamon
1/8 tsp. nutmeg
1 egg, lightly beaten
1 tsp. vanilla
1/4 c. raisins
1/4 c. chopped walnuts

Place butter in medium glass bowl. Microwave 1 1/2 minutes. Blend in sugars and applesauce, then stir in flour, baking powder, and spices. Beat in egg and vanilla, then stir in raisins and walnuts. Turn mixture into an 8x8 inch square glass baking dish.

Microwave, uncovered, on high setting 5 1/2 to 6 1/2 minutes, rotating dish 1/4 turn after 3 minutes. Top will look damp, but will set as it cools. Let cool before cutting into 2x2 inch squares. Makes 16 bars.

Since microwave ovens vary in power, you may need to adjust your cooking time.
