ELLIS TACO SALAD 
1 sm. head lettuce, shredded
1 (12-14 oz.) bag nacho chips (plain)
1 1/2 - 2 lbs. hamburger meat
1 env. taco seasoning mix
1 can dark or light red kidney beans
1 sm. onion, chopped
Fresh tomato, diced or 1 (4 1/2 oz.) can whole tomatoes
1/2 lb. grated cheese (Velveeta or generic)
Picante sauce or salsa

Brown meat and drain. Saute onions in meat; add envelope of taco seasoning (and canned whole tomatoes if using) and kidney beans. Add water required by envelope of seasoning and cook according to directions on package. Put a layer of nacho chips on plate, lettuce next, hamburger mixture, grated cheese, diced tomatoes and picante sauce.
