FLORENCE'S SPONGE CAKE 
2 eggs
1 c. sugar
1/4 tsp. salt
1 1/4 c. flour
2 tsp. baking powder
1/2 c. hot milk

ICING:

1 c. sugar
1/3 c. milk
1 tbsp. butter
1/2 tsp. vanilla

Beat eggs and sugar until thick, creamy and light yellow. Add dry ingredients; mix well. Add hot milk. Bake in ungreased 8x8 pan at 350 degrees for 25-30 minutes.

Icing: Cook sugar and milk to soft ball stage. Do not stir after mixture boils except to prevent burning. Add butter without stirring and cool to lukewarm. Add vanilla. Beat until creamy.
