1 c. shortening
1 c. sugar
1 (3 oz.) pkg. cream cheese, softened
2 eggs
2 tbsp. grated orange peel
2 tsp. vanilla
2 c. sifted flour
1 tsp. salt
1 (6 oz.) (1 c.) semi-sweet chocolate pieces

Cream together shortening, sugar, cream cheese. Add eggs, orange peel and vanilla. Beat well. Sift together flour and salt, add to creamed mixture, mixing well. Stir in chocolate pieces. Drop from teaspoon 2 inches apart on lightly greased cookie sheet. Bake in moderate oven 350 degrees 12 minutes or until done. Cool slightly before removing from pan. Yield: 4 dozen.
