HOT SPICED CIDER 
2 qt. apple cider
Juice of 2 oranges
Juice of 2 lemons
15 whole cloves
6 cinnamon sticks
1 tbsp. honey
1 tbsp. ground allspice
1 tsp. ground cinnamon
1/2 tsp. ground nutmeg
2 1/2 c. rum (optional)
3 tbsp. butter

Combine all ingredients except rum and butter in saucepan and simmer, covered, for 2 hours. Strain to remove cloves and cinnamon. Add rum, if desired. Ladle hot cider into tankards or mugs. Float 1 1/2 tablespoons butter on surface in each mug. Cinnamon sticks may be used as stirrers. Seven 1/2-cup drinks, or 6 (10 ounce) drinks, with rum. Five cups, or 4 (10 ounce) drinks, without rum.
