SHEPHERD'S PIE | |
1 lb. ground chuck 1 medium onion, chopped gravy mix (McCormick) or small can beef gravy 1 (16 oz.) can baked beans approximately 3 lb. potatoes (use plenty) 1 tbsp. butter approximately 2 oz. milk paprika salt and pepper to taste Boil potatoes, then drain them. Mash them with butter and milk. Brown the ground chuck and drain off the fat. Add the chopped onion to the meat and continue to cook the meat until no pink is seen. Add gravy mix and 1 cup of water or add the can of beef gravy. To this mixture, add the baked beans and cook for one or two minutes further. Mix well. Transfer all the meat, onion and gravy mixture to a deep casserole dish. Place the mashed potatoes in a smooth even layer on top. Bake about 25 minutes in a 350°F oven. A sprinkle of paprika can first be placed on top of the potato layer. |
