1 c. Hershey's semi-sweet chocolate chips
1 tbsp. shortening (not butter, butter or oil)
Assorted fresh fruit, washed & chilled
In top of double boiler over hot, not boiling water, melt chocolate chips and shortening, stir until smooth. Allow mixture to cool slightly. Dip fruit or fruit slices about 2/3 of the way into chocolate mixture. Shake gently to remove excess chocolate. Place on wax paper covered tray. Refrigerate, uncovered, until chocolate is firm, approximately 30 minutes. Makes 1/2 cup coating.
MICROWAVE INSTRUCTIONS: In small micro-proof bowl melt chocolate chips and shortening on high (full power) 1 to 1 1/2 minutes or just until chips are melted and mixture is smooth when stirred. Allow to cool slightly and dip as above. Great for strawberries.
