1/2 cup butter or Crisco butter flavored shorting (soft)
1 tbsp. milk
1 tsp. baking powder
1/4 tsp. salt
1 cup sugar
2 tsp. vanilla
1 egg
1 1/2 cups flour

Preheat oven to 375°F.

Beat:

sugar, eggs, milk and vanilla into soft butter or shortening

Sift:

salt, baking powder and flour together

Add:

to creamed mixture and mix thoroughly.

Drop from a teaspoon 1 inch apart onto greased cookie sheet. Wrap a wet cloth or paper towel around a small glass, dip in sugar, mash cookies flat with sugar dipped cloth.

Bake at 375°F for 8 minutes or until lightly brown. Remove from cookie sheet at once.
