CHOCOLATE CHIP OATMEAL COOKIES 
1 c. butter
3/4 c. brown sugar
3/4 c. white sugar
2 eggs, unbeaten
1 1/2 c. flour
1 tsp. salt
1 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. hot water
1 (12 oz.) plus 1 (6 oz.) semi-sweet chocolate chips
2 c. oatmeal, uncooked, quick or regular
1 tsp. vanilla

Cream butter until soft. Add both sugars gradually, creaming until light and fluffy. Add eggs one at a time. Add hot water and vanilla. Sift together, flour, salt, baking soda and add to batter. Add chocolate chips and oatmeal.

Drop by teaspoonfuls on greased cookie sheet. Bake at 350 degrees for 8 minutes, OR

Fill batter into 3 greased 8 x 8 inch pans. Bake at 350 degrees for 25 minutes. Cut into squares while warm.
