BUTTERMILK POUND CAKE 
3 c. sugar
1 c. Crisco
6 eggs
3 c. flour
1/2 tsp. salt
1/4 tsp. baking soda
1 c. buttermilk
1 tsp. lemon juice or lemon extract

Cream sugar and Crisco thoroughly. Add eggs, one at a time. Sift flour, soda and salt together. Add buttermilk and lemon extract. Bake 1 hour and 10 minutes at 350 degrees.
