HALF WAY COOKIES 
1 c. shortening
1/2 c. sugar
1/2 c. brown sugar
1 tsp. vanilla
2 egg yolks, slightly beaten with 1 tbsp. water
1 tsp. baking powder
1 (6 oz.) pkg. chocolate chips
1 c. chopped nuts
1/4 tsp. baking soda
1/2 tsp. salt

Cream shortening and sugar. Add egg yolks and vanilla. Add dry ingredients. This makes a stiff dough. Press evenly into greased, large cookie sheet. Press chocolate chips and nuts on top.

Mix 2 egg whites and 1 cup brown sugar until stiff. Spread this mixture on top of everything and bake at 350 degrees for 25 minutes. Cut when cool.
