BRUNSWICK STEW 
6 lb. chicken or fowl
1 gallon of water
2 onions
4 c. tomatoes
2 c. lima beans
4 med. potatoes
4 c. corn
2 tsp. salt
1/2 tsp. pepper
1 tbsp. sugar
2 c. okra, if desired

Cook chicken or fowl slowly in the gallon of water for 2 1/2 hours. Make sure not to boil rapidly at any time. Bone the chicken and set it aside. Add to the broth the above ingredients. Simmer slowly until the lima beans are tender, about 1 hour. Add more water, if needed, and stir to prevent scorching. Add the corn, diced chicken, salt, pepper and sugar.
