HERB BUTTER-SPREAD BREAD 
1 (16 oz.) loaf white bread, unsliced
3/4 c. unsalted butter, softened
1/2 tsp. salt
1/2 tsp. Worcestershire sauce
1/2 tsp. whole leaf dried thyme
1/2 tsp. whole leaf dried marjoram

Cut off top, side and end crusts of bread. Do not cut away bottom crust. Cut bread, leaving bottom attached, in half lengthwise and into 3/4 inch crosswise.

Cream butter. Add salt and Worcestershire sauce. Place thyme and marjoram leaves in palm of hand and crush lightly. Add to butter and mix well. Spread all cut surfaces of bread inside and out with butter. Place bread on rimmed baking sheet. Bake, uncovered, in 325 degree oven about 30 minutes or until crisp. Serve hot. 6 to 8 servings.
