OATMEAL EXTRAVAGANZAS 
1 c. plus tbsp. flour (all-purpose)
1 1/2 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. salt
1 c. plus 2 tbsp. firmly packed brown sugar
3/4 c. butter, softened
2 tsp. vanilla
1/4 c. water
2 c. quick oats, uncooked
1 (12 oz.) pkg. semi-sweet chocolate pieces

Preheat oven to 375 degrees. In bowl combine flour, baking powder and salt; set aside. In bowl beat brown sugar, butter and vanilla until creamy. Gradually blend in flour mixture alternately with water. Stir in oats and chocolate pieces. Spread in greased 9 inch square baking pan. Bake 30 minutes. Cool. Cut into 1 1/2 inch squares. Makes 3 dozen squares.
