BOSTON BROWN BREAD 
1 lb. dates, cut up
2 tsp. baking soda
2 c. boiling water

Let cool. 2 tbsp. butter 2 eggs 1/2 tsp. salt 1 c. nuts 1 c. raisins 1/2 c. maraschino cherries 4 c. flour

Cream together sugar, butter, eggs and salt. Add flour and dates that have been cooled. Then add remainder of ingredients and bake in 300 degree oven for 1 hour and 15 minutes.
