AUNT EVELYN'S SWEET AND SOUR BEANS | |
2 (14 to 16 oz.) cans pork & beans 1 (14 to 16 oz.) can lima beans 1 (14 to 16 oz.) can butter beans 2 (14 to 16 oz.) can kidney beans 1/2 c. vinegar 1/2 c. molasses 3/4 c. brown sugar 1/2 tsp. dry mustard 1 lb. bacon 2 lg. onions, chopped Baking time: 1 hour. Oven temperature: 350 degrees. Drain and rinse all beans with cold water. Chop bacon into small pieces and fry until crisp. When done, remove with slotted spoon and place on paper towel to drain. Drain bacon grease, leaving just enough to coat bottom of pan. Fry onions until clear over medium flame so as not to burn onions. Mix bacon, onions, and beans in large baking dish. In large measuring cup, mix vinegar, molasses, brown sugar, and mustard together. Pour over bean mixture and mix well. Bake at 350 degrees for 1 hour. |
