SOUR CREAM FUDGE LAYERS | |
1 3/4 c. sifted all purpose flour (instant type can be used) 1 1/2 c. sugar 1 1/2 tsp. salt 1 tsp. baking soda 1 1/4 c. dairy sour cream 1/4 c. soft shortening 2 eggs 3 sq. unsweetened chocolate, melted and cooled, or 3 env. no melt unsweetened chocolate 1 tsp. vanilla extract Sift first 4 ingredients into large bowl. Add 1 cup sour cream and the shortening and stir until blended. Beat 2 minutes at medium speed of electric mixer or 300 vigorous strokes by hand. Add 1/4 cup sour cream, the eggs, chocolate and vanilla and beat 2 more minutes. Pour into two 9 inch layer pans, lined on the bottom with waxed paper. Bake in moderate oven (350 degrees) for 25 to 30 minutes. Cool 5 minutes. Then turn out of pans onto wire racks and cool thoroughly. |
