DATE & NUT BARS 
1 c. confectioners' sugar
1 tbsp. shortening, melted
2 eggs
1/4 c. sifted cake flour
1/4 tsp. salt
1/2 tsp. baking powder
3/4 c. nuts, chopped
1 tsp. vanilla
1 c. chopped dates

Beat eggs until light. Add sugar and shortening. Blend well. Sift dry ingredients together. Add dates, nuts and vanilla. Blend well and pour into greased 9 x 9 inch shallow pan. Bake in slow oven at 325 degrees for about 25 minutes.
