NAN'S BAKING POWDER BISCUITS | |
2 c. all-purpose flour (white or whole wheat) 3 tsp. baking powder (double action) 1/2 tsp. salt 1/3 c. butter 7/8 c. milk (1 c. minus 2 tbsp.) Preheat oven to 450 degrees. Sift flour 3 times with other dry ingredients in 3 quart mixing bowl. Cut butter into dry ingredients with pastry blender until tiny particles. Pour milk into center well of flour mixture. Stir quickly with fork - dough should be soft. Add tablespoon of milk, if needed. Turn dough onto board. Knead quickly 6 to 8 times. Roll out 1/2 to 3/4 inch thick. Cut; grease pan. Set apart (not touching). Bake 12 to 15 minutes. Serve hot. |
