APPLE SCOTCH SPICE SQUARES 
2 (6 oz.) pkgs. butterscotch chips
1/4 c. butter
1/2 c. sugar
1 egg
2 1/2 c. flour
1 1/2 tsp. salt
1 tsp. baking soda
1/4 tsp. cinnamon
1/4 tsp. nutmeg
1 (15 oz.) can applesauce
1 c. nuts, chopped

Melt chips and butter over hot, not boiling, water. Remove from heat; blend in sugar. Sift dry ingredients together and stir into chip mixture. Add egg, then applesauce and nuts. Mix well. Spread evenly in greased 10 x 15 inch jelly roll pan. Bake at 325 degrees for 30 minutes.
