MOM'S FILLED COOKIE 
Dough:

1/2 c. shortening
1 tsp. vanilla
1 c. sugar
1 tsp. baking soda
2 eggs
2 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. salt
1/2 c. milk
3 c. flour (more if dough is sticky)

Filling:

2 c. raisins
1 c. chopped nuts
3/4 c. sugar
Water
6 tbsp. flour

Cream shortening and sugar. Add eggs, vanilla and milk. Combine dry ingredients and add to sugar mixture, mixing well. Filling: In a saucepan, put raisins, sugar and flour and use enough water to cover raisins. Cool until thickened. Cool and add nuts. On a floured board, roll out dough and cut into shape desired and place filling in center. Fold in half. Make sure the ends are sealed.

Bake at 350°F for 10 - 12 mins. or until lightly browned. Ice with powdered sugar icing when cool or dust with powdered sugar only.
