MIKE'S FAVORITE CHOCOLATE REVEL
BARS
 
3 c. quick oats
2 1/2 c. all-purpose flour
1 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. salt
1 (14 oz.) can sweetened condensed milk
1 1/2 c. chocolate chips
2 tbsp. butter
1 c. butter
2 c. brown sugar
2 eggs
4 tsp. vanilla
1/2 tsp. salt
1/2 c. chopped walnuts (opt.)

Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Combine oats, flour, soda and 1 teaspoon salt. In separate bowl beat 1 cup of butter for 30 seconds. Add brown sugar and beat until fluffy. Add egg and 2 teaspoons of the vanilla, beat well. Stir oats, flour, soda and salt into the beaten mixture, stirring until well combined.

In saucepan, heat together sweetened condensed milk, chocolate chips, 1/2 teaspoon salt and 2 tablespoons butter over low heat, stirring until smooth. Stir in walnuts and remaining 2 teaspoons vanilla.

Pat 2/3 of oat mixture into ungreased 15 x 10 x 1 inch baking pan (jelly roll pan). Spread chocolate mixture over oat mixture. Dot with remaining oat mixture. Bake at 350 degrees for 25 to 30 minutes. Don't over bake. Cool on a wire rack. Cut into bars. Makes 72.
