CHERRY PIE FILLING 
1 (No. 2) can pie cherries
1/2 c. cherry juice
1 1/4 c. sugar
3 tbsp. cornstarch
1/4 tsp. red food color
1/4 tsp. almond extract

Mix sugar and cornstarch with cherries and juice. Cook until thickened, about 5 or 6 minutes. Add almond extract and food coloring. Put in unbaked pie shell. Cook at 450 degrees for 15 minutes. Open oven door for 5 minutes, then cook at 325 degrees for 15 minutes longer.
