BREAD & BUTTER PICKLE 
1 gal. med. & lg. cucumbers, sliced
8 med. onions, sliced
1 sweet green peppers, cut up
1 sweet red pepper, cut up (or drained canned pimentos)
1/2 c. salt

Slice cucumbers, onions, cut up peppers; add salt and about 4 trays ice cubes. Mix well and let stand 3 hours. Drain and make a sauce as follows: 1 tsp. turmeric 1/2 tsp. ground cloves 2 tbsp. mustard seed (whole) 2 tsp. celery seed (whole) 5 c. vinegar

Mix well. Pour over drained cucumbers, onions and peppers. Bring to a boil (but DO NOT BOIL). Seal while hot. Makes 8 pints.
