CHILI STEAK 'N SHAKE STYLE 
1 1/2 lbs. ground beef
2 tbsp. corn oil
1/2 tsp. salt
10 oz. onion soup
1 tbsp. chili powder
2 tsp. cumin powder
1/2 tsp. black pepper
1 (21 oz.) can kidney beans
1 (6 oz.) can tomato paste
1 (8 oz.) can tomato sauce
2 tsp. cocoa
8 oz. Coca-Cola

Brown beef in corn oil. Add 10 ounces onion soup and simmer 5 minutes. Add chili and cumin powders and pepper. Add kidney beans, tomato paste and tomato sauce. Heat 20 minutes. Add cocoa and then cola. Simmer until flavor is desired. Serve on spaghetti or macaroni.

I use this recipe exclusively when I make chili. The only thing different is that I will pour the mixture into a crock pot after it has been on the stove for 5 minutes. Leave it in the crock for 3 to 5 hours... The hamburger is very tender and the fat can be strained out pretty easily. I usually just leave the fat as more and more health gurus talk about how the brain needs fat...
