LEMON AMMONIA COOKIES
1 oz. baking ammonia
2 tsp. oil of lemon
1 pt. milk
2 c. shortening
4 c. sugar
3 eggs
1 tsp. salt
7 to 12 c. flour

Buy baking ammonia and oil of lemon at a drug store. Crush ammonia and put into milk 3 to 4 hours or overnight. Mix as you do for sour cream cookies. Roll and cut. Bake at 350 degrees for 10 to 12 minutes until LIGHT brown. When cookies are fresh baked, they are ammonia flavored, but the longer you keep them, the lemon flavor comes through.
