SWEDISH MEATBALLS | |
1 1/2 lb. ground beef 1 tsp. salt 1/4 tsp. pepper 2 tbsp. shortening 4 slices dry bread 1 egg 1 1/4 c. condensed consomme 1 med. onion 1/4 tsp. allspice, scant 1/8 tsp. cloves, scant Combine meat, onion, seasonings and egg. Dip bread in water and squeeze dry. Crumble into small bits, then add to meat. Mix well. Roll into balls. Bake in oven 350 degrees approximately 30 minutes, turning after 15 minutes. Put consomme in saucepan; add meatballs. Simmer 20 minutes on low heat. |
