DEEP DISH PIZZA | |
1 loaf frozen white bread dough 1/2 c. tomato sauce 1/2 c. canned tomatoes, chopped 1 lb. ground beef 1/3 c. chopped onions 1/3 c. chopped mushrooms 8 oz. shredded or sliced Mozzarella cheese 1/4 c. grated Romano or Parmesan cheese 1 tsp. oregano 1 tsp. garlic powder Salt and pepper Thaw and soften dough. Shape into a round ball. Roll out to a 12 inch circle or a shape to fit the baking dish. Grease baking dish. Place dough in baking dish, pat out to edges. Dough will be springy. Let rest 15 to 25 minutes and pat out to edges again. Repeat again if necessary. Combine tomato sauce and tomatoes; set aside. Brown beef; add green pepper, onions, and mushrooms and cook until tender; set aside. When dough fits pan, make ridge along edge so filling will not run over edge. Spread with tomato mixture; then with meat mixture. Place shredded or sliced Mozzarella cheese on top. Sprinkle with Romano cheese, oregano, garlic powder, salt and pepper. Bake at 450 degrees for 20 minutes. |
