KILLER BREAD FROM BYERLY'S COOKING SCHOOL | |
1 c. mayonnaise 1 c. freshly grated Parmesan (3 oz.) 1 (1 lb.) round sour dough bread, halved horizontally 1 1/2 tsp. minced garlic (can buy jar of minced garlic) or 3 cloves Butter (butter) 2 tsp. fresh basil (finely chopped) or 2 tsp. dried basil Preheat broiler. Mix mayonnaise, Parmesan cheese and garlic in bowl to blend. Arrange bread cut side up, on large sheet pan; butter. Broil until crispy brown (light). Watch closely. Spread mayonnaise mixture over bread; broil until top is puffed and golden brown, watch closely. Sprinkle with chopped basil. Cut into wedges and serve. Pesto could be used also or parsley. Serves 12. |
