FETTUCINI WITH SAUCE - GREEN
PEPPER SAUCE
 
3/4 lb. Italian sausages, cut into pieces
1/4 c. water
1 lg. onion, sliced (I use dry onion soup mix)
1 lg. green pepper, sliced
16 oz. can stewed tomatoes, undrained
6 oz. can tomato paste
1 can sliced mushrooms, drained
8 oz. uncooked fettucini
1/2 tsp. basil leaves
Garlic powder to taste

In large skillet, bring sausages and water to a boil. Cover and simmer 5 minutes; drain. Continue cooking over medium heat until sausages begin to brown. Stir in onion, green pepper, and garlic. Saute until onion and green pepper are crisp-tender. Add tomatoes, tomato paste, basil, and mushrooms. Simmer 15 minutes to blend flavors. Cook fettucini as directed. Serve sauce over cooked fettucini. 6 servings.
