BANANA NUT BREAD 
2 c. sifted flour
1 1/2 tsp. baking powder
1 tsp. cinnamon
1/2 tsp. baking soda
1/2 tsp. salt
1/8 tsp. cardamon
1/4 c. buttermilk
2 eggs
1 1/2 c. banana pieces
1/2 c. soft shortening
2/3 c. sugar
1 c. pecans

Heat oven to 350 degrees. Grease a 9 x 5 x 3 inch loaf pan. Sift flour, baking powder, salt, baking soda, cinnamon and cardamon into a mixing bowl. Put remaining ingredients except nuts into a blender cover and process at BLEND until smooth. Stop blender, add nuts, cover and process only until nuts are chopped. Pour into dry ingredients and mix only until flour is moistened. Pour into prepared pan and bake 1 hour to 1 hour and 15 minutes. Yield: 1 loaf.
