APPLE SLICE BARS 
5 c. sliced apples
2 1/2 c. all-purpose flour
1 c. shortening
1 tsp. salt
1 egg yolk
1 egg white
2/3 c. crushed corn flakes
1 1/2 c. sugar
1 tsp. cinnamon
Milk (enough when mixed with egg yolk will equal 2/3 c.)

Mix the flour, salt and shortening together as you would for a pie crust. Mix the egg yolk with enough milk to make 2/3 cup. Add to flour mixture and form 2 balls. Roll out 1 ball to fit a pan 9 x 13 x 1/2 inches. Put 2/3 cup crushed corn flakes on crust and add the apples.

Pour 1 1/2 c. sugar mixed with 1 teaspoon cinnamon on apples. Make a top crust with the second ball of dough, cover and seal. Beat the egg white with a fork and rub over the top. Bake 45 minutes at 350 degrees. If desired, drizzle powdered sugar frosting over the top. Cut into squares.
