SUGAR AND SPICE COOKIES 
3/4 c. shortening
1 c. sugar
1 egg
1/4 c. molasses
2 c. flour
1 1/2 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. cinnamon
1/2 tsp. ginger
1/2 tsp. allspice
1/4 tsp. salt
2 tsp. sugar
1 tsp. cinnamon

Can just use 1/2 teaspoon pumpkin pie spice. For tops.

Cream together shortening and sugar until fluffy. Add egg and molasses. Blend well. Sift together next 6 ingredients. Stir into creamed mixture. Form into balls using 1 teaspoon dough. Roll in a mixture of 2 teaspoon sugar and 1 teaspoon cinnamon. Place about 2 inches apart on cookie sheet. Bake at 375 degrees for 10 minutes or until golden brown.

Makes about 3 dozen.
