TYPICALLY AUSTRALIAN 
Marinated beef pie. A very tasty good old fashioned family meal.

THE MARINADE:

2 c. red wine
2 c. beef stock
1/2 c. olive oil
1 onion, chopped
1 stick celery, finely chopped
1 carrot, chopped
1 clove garlic, crushed
1 tsp. marjoram
1 tsp. salt
1 tsp. crushed black peppercorns

FOR COOKING:

1 kg of 21b beef, chuck of blade
Flour
Oil for frying
Puff pastry sheet
1 egg, lightly beaten

Combine all the ingredients for the marinade in a saucepan, bring to the boil and allow to cool. Cut the beef into bite-size pieces and place in a glass bowl. Cover with the marinade and marinate for at least 24 hours in the refrigerator. Drain meat, toss in flour and brown in hot oil.
