RAISED DOUGHNUTS 
3 pkg. yeast
5 c. warm water
2 eggs
1 c. sugar
1/2 c. melted shortening
2 1/2 lb. flour
1 tbsp. baking powder
1 1/4 tsp. salt

Dissolve yeast in water. Beat eggs with sugar; add shortening. Mix in 1/2 of the yeast mix. Sift flour in and mix with baking powder and salt. Add other half of yeast in. Cover and let raise 2 hours. Knead until smooth, roll and cut; let raise 1 hour. Deep fry at 350 degrees until golden. Brown on both sides. Drain and roll in sugar or dip in glaze. Makes 6 dozen
