PISTACHIO SURPRISE 
1 stick butter
1 c. flour
1 c. chopped nuts

Mix with pastry blender and press into 9 x 13 inch pan. Bake at 350 degrees for 20 minutes. Cool.

1 (8 oz.) pkg. cream cheese, softened
1 c. confectioners' sugar
1/2 c. Cool Whip

Beat with mixer and spread on first layer.

1 lg. pkg. pistachio pudding
3 c. milk

Mix 2 minutes at medium speed and pour into second layer. Top with a layer of Cool Whip and garnish with chopped nuts and-or candied fruit.
