SPICE CAKE IN A JAR | |
2/3 c. shortening 2 2/3 c. sugar 2 tsp. baking soda 2/3 c. nuts 1/2 tsp. baking powder 1 tsp. cloves 2/3 c. water 2 c. applesauce 4 eggs 3 1/3 c. flour 1 1/2 tsp. salt 1 tsp. cinnamon Cream shortening and sugar. Add applesauce, water and eggs. Mix dry ingredients together; mix all together. Spray wide-mouthed jars with Pam. Pour batter 1/2 full (6-8 jars). Bake 45 minutes in oven preheated to 325 degrees. Remove one at a time and screw on canning lids. Shelf life of one year. Great for school lunches, bazaar item or gift to those who don't cook. |
